01 — For Clients · Engagement Models

Three ways to put the bench to work

One firm, three engagement models. Pick the structure that fits your contract vehicle, your timeline, and your risk — we handle sourcing, vetting, payroll, and compliance either way.

MODEL / A

Staff Augmentation

Contract professionals who plug into your team under your direction — for surge work, backfills, and project pushes where headcount approvals move slower than the work.

  • Vetted slate for every requisition
  • W-2 employment, payroll & benefits on us
  • Timesheet, invoicing & compliance handled
  • Scale seats up or down as the project moves

Best for — Project surges · Backfills · Hard-to-fill roles

MODEL / B

Contract Placement

Fixed-term placements with a defined end — including contract-to-hire paths when you want to evaluate a professional on the job before committing to a permanent seat.

  • Defined term, rate, and conversion terms up front
  • Credential, background & reference checks
  • Replacement guarantee during the placement
  • Direct-hire conversion when the fit is proven

Best for — Contract-to-hire · Term projects · Pilots

MODEL / C

Subcontracting & Teaming

BenchSlate as your staffing subcontractor: we supply cleared-for-work, fully documented professionals under your prime contract — state, federal, or commercial flow-downs included.

  • Teaming & subcontractor agreements supported
  • Flow-down compliance and documentation packs
  • Small-business participation for set-aside goals
  • One invoice, one point of accountability

Best for — Prime contractors · GovCon teams · MSAs

02 — The Bench · Practice Areas

One bench. Six practice areas.

The bench is organized the way buyers write requisitions. Filter by practice area to see the role families we staff and vet for — then build a slate or send us the req.

Don’t see your role family? Specialized requisitions are our home turf — if it sits inside an IT organization, we will source it. Send the req and we’ll tell you plainly if it’s outside our practice areas.

How every candidate earns a slate seat

A name reaches your slate only after it clears the same gauntlet — no exceptions for speed.

  • Skills screen against the actual requisition
  • Work authorization & identity verified
  • References and employment history checked
  • Background & credential checks per contract requirements
  • Communication and professionalism assessed live

03 — Slate Builder · Interactive

Build your slate in thirty seconds

Tap the practice areas you need, set your seats, pick a term — the builder drafts a requisition brief you can copy or email straight to our desk. No account, no obligation.

04 — Who We Serve

Built for buyers who answer to somebody

Government and prime-contractor buyers don’t need a sales pitch — they need a staffing partner whose paperwork, insurance, and people hold up under review. That’s the standard BenchSlate is built to.

California State & Local

Departments, counties, cities, and special districts staffing IT modernization, support desks, and program delivery across the state.

Federal Programs

Staffing support for federal work performed in California — delivered directly or through prime partners, with documentation that survives audit.

Prime Contractors

Teaming and subcontracting capacity for primes that need bench depth, surge staffing, or a responsive small-business partner on the roster.

Commercial IT Teams

Companies scaling support, infrastructure, and delivery teams without carrying idle headcount between projects.

05 — How It Works

Req in. Slate out. People working.

A tight, documented process — the same one whether the req is one service-desk analyst or a twelve-seat program team.

01

Requisition

Send the role, the must-haves, the term, and the constraints — clearance, location, rate band, start date.

Day 0 · 15-minute intake

02

Sourcing

We work the bench first, then our sourcing network — every candidate matched against the req, not a keyword.

Days 1–2

03

Vetting

Skills screens, references, work authorization, and the background and credential checks your contract requires.

Days 2–4

04

The Slate

You receive a named slate — a short list of qualified people with summaries you can interview from directly.

Target · Within 5 business days

05

Placement & Support

We handle offer, onboarding paperwork, payroll, and check-ins through the engagement — and replacements if a fit fails.

06 — Capability Statement

The one-pager your procurement file needs

Primes and agency buyers ask for the same document every time: core competencies, NAICS codes, differentiators, and company data on a single page. Ours is ready — download it as a clean text file for your vendor file, or send it to yourself from the button below.

A

Bench-first sourcing

We work the bench we’re building before we ever post an ad — that’s where the speed comes from.

B

Asset-light, low overhead

No office leases or bloated layers between you and the margin. Competitive rates are structural, not a promotion.

C

Owner-operated accountability

The person who signs your agreement is the person who answers for your slate. One desk, one point of accountability.

08 — The Firm

Why “BenchSlate”?

Because that’s the whole business, in one word. A staffing firm is only ever two things: the strength of the bench it keeps, and the quality of the slate it sends. We built the company — and the name — around doing both properly.

BenchSlate Talent Group, LLC is a Los Angeles-based, owner-operated staffing firm formed in 2026, built asset-light on purpose: no bloated overhead, no layers between the client and the desk — just a disciplined slate process, a bench that grows deeper every week, and rates that reflect a lean operation.

The Bench

The roster of vetted, work-ready professionals we’re building — screened before a requisition ever lands. Depth here is what makes speed possible.

The Slate

The short, curated list we deliver for your specific req — every name screened against it. Never a résumé dump, never a maybe.

09 — Leadership

Brian Claybrook

Founder & Managing Member

Brian Claybrook is a Los Angeles native who builds companies the way he was raised to work: show up, own the result, no excuses.

Before BenchSlate, he founded and operated an EV charging business in California — negotiating vendor agreements, running payments and merchant services, handling taxes, and putting the ownership structure together behind it. That operator's education is BenchSlate's foundation: asset-light, lean, and built around one accountable desk for every requisition.

He founded BenchSlate Talent Group in 2026 to bring that discipline to staffing — a firm where the bench is vetted before it's needed, every slate is short enough to defend name by name, and clients deal with the person who answers for the work. As Founder & Managing Member, he leads client and teaming relationships and personally approves every engagement the firm takes on.

“A staffing firm is only ever two things: the strength of its bench and the quality of its slate. We intend to be known for both.”
— B. K. Claybrook Jr.
